DotScope Software

DotScope software
DotScope application view after 3D measurement

Easy operation

The DotScope software is clearly structured and shows a large video image that is easily recognizable even from a distance. For many applications configurations are already stored, which can be selected directly from the main program window. Thus, the setting of specific measurement parameters is generally not needed. These configurations are available e.g. for

  • Ceramic anilox rolls
  • Chrome anilox rolls
  • Laser engraved gravure cylinders
  • Stylus engraved gravure cylinders
  • Flexo cliche
  • Special screens, such as Trihelical

  • Other configurations can easily be stored permanently and easily recalled. This makes the DotScope intuitive and easy to use even for newcomers without much training.

    Efficient work

Focus the surface manually and click on the measurement button. The lighting is automatically adjusted, the images are taken and then the 3D model is determined. A 3D measurement usually takes between 15 ... 20 seconds.

Even with the 3D measurements, a series measurement can be started. This is interesting if, for example, you want to make several measurements on an anilox roller and then process them together.

With the generation of the 3D model automatically the grid, screen angle, volume and profile depth are determined. The displayed image can be continuously faded from the deep-sharp natural view to the pure relief map. The deep-focus image may be e.g. to assist in the analysis of deviant cup shapes or the analysis of stylus breaks.

Profile sections of an arbitrarily positionable line can be created. For these profile sections measuring tools for height, width and angle are available.

Furthermore, almost any number of measuring tools for the punctual depth, the transverse diagonals, the longitudinal diagonals or wall widths can be places in the relief map.

    3D view

A 3D view of the measurement can be generated, which can be rotated and tilted with the mouse as desired. Optionally, a spot lighting can be added to make the smallest differences in height clearly visible.

Measurements can be saved and reloaded later for further processing. The measured data are stored in the proprietary file formats .m2d and .m3d. In addition, a .jpg of the measurement is generated and the 3d data is stored in the open .x3p format. Thus, the acquired data can also be further processed with other applications. The 2D functions such as the measurement of longitudinal diagonals, cross diagonals or web widths are also available.

Perfect data preparation for your daily production

After the measurement, the data can be further processed. For this the data dialog is opened:

    Data dialog

The names of the input fields can be changed, input fields can be deleted or supplemented. The data dialog offers the possibility of displaying one or more measurements in a measurement report. A variety of designs are included, e.g.

  • for single or continuous multiple measurements
  • for anilox rolls with nominal and measured data
  • for comparison before and after cleaning
  • for flexographic printing plates
  • for several measuring points on one anilox roller
  • for other languages

  • In addition to the examples shown here, multi-page measurement protocols are also possible, especially if several measurements are displayed in one report, or profile sections or 3D views are integrated into the report.

Database connection and quality control of your anilox rollers

The input and measurement data can also be transferred to a foreign database via the hotfolder method or written directly into a local database. The second method is suitable for cylinder users who want to monitor the wear or pollution of their rolls. Past volume readings of a roll are visualized immediately and can also be displayed in tabular form.

    Calibration wizard

The calibration of the DotScope is possible in less than 10 minutes. The decisive factor here is the software's fast measurement method, which saves valuable time. With the help of the calibration wizard, the seperate calibration of the xy- and z-axis can be carried out. After saving the current data, a check is carried out in comparision with the standard data and a calibration certificate is issued.
